Bus terminus renovation to be over by December
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: The renovation of Villivakkam bus terminus will be completed by December.
Inspecting the facility on Friday, Union Minister for Textiles and Central Chennai Member of Parliament Dayanidhi Maran said water stagnation during monsoon is a major problem at the terminus. To avoid inundation, the floor level would be raised two feet above the road level. The roof would also be changed. The work would be completed within three months at a cost of Rs.60 lakh allocated under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund. Transport Minister K. N. Nehru, who accompanied Mr. Maran, said work was under way to improve several bus terminuses in low-level areas, including the one in Kodambakkam, at a total cost of Rs.2.50 crore sanctioned by the State government.
