Respect judgment, says CPI

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India on Friday urged all sections of people to respect the court verdict in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title case that is expected on September 24.

In a statement, the party Central Secretariat said the issue is sensitive and some communal elements are already trying to work up tension.

The Secretariat said that from the beginning it had been campaigning for a negotiated settlement, failing which the matter should be decided by the court.

“This has been the effort of all secular and sober elements in the country.”

Hopes for peace

It said that if there were any grievances left after the verdict, the way would be to appeal to the Supreme Court so that the judicial process could be completed.

“We hope that peace will be maintained and nobody will attempt to work up tension on the issue,” the statement added.
