Call to collect data on physical targets

Citizen-friendly facility: Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam launching the website in Puducherry on Friday

PUDUCHERRY: The Planning and Research Department should consider collecting data on physical targets apart from financial targets they maintain and should publish them periodically, Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam said here on Friday.

He was inaugurating the website of the department hosted as a response to the needs of data users and other departments.

Mr. Vaithilingam said that various departments in the Union Territory should look at the Annual Plan expenditure details put up on the new website and if they had not achieved the targets, should try to improve their performance as soon as possible.

On the need to maintain and update websites periodically, he said that though all government departments already had their own websites, some of them lacked regular updating and this defeated the purpose of hosting such portals, he said.

According to a release from the department, “the details available on the website will fulfil the primary objective of being citizen centric and user friendly.”

Information on the site

The website provided information on activities of the department and information on various welfare schemes of the territorial government and the status of their implementation.

Principal Secretary (Plan) Nutan Nuha Biswas, Director of the department S. Kanagasabai, Joint Director (HQ) A.S Vijayalakshmi, Joint Director (Monitoring) Md. Charfourdine and Technical Director (NIC) S. Rajasekaran were present.

The website could be accessed at http://pandr.puducherry.gov.in.
