Provide power connection to water pumps, officials told

Staff Reporter

SRIKAKULAM: District Collector N. Srikanth asked the officials concerned to provide electricity connection to the drinking water pumpsets immediately. Many water schemes are not functioning with non-availability of electricity. It is estimated that about 25 pump sets have become defunct with non-availability of electricity. The collector took up the issue seriously as many villages are not being provided drinking water. He directed the engineers of Rural Water Supply schemes to provide power supply within a week.

Mr. Srikanth has also asked the officials of Zilla Parishad to complete borewell drillings. The officials were directed not to depend on contractors for the works. He suggested them to encourage unemployed youth to purchase rigs by providing loans. In turn, they will take up the works on war-footing .
