Electrotherm sees growth in Coimbatore market

COIMBATORE: Electrotherm is hopeful of doubling its induction melting furnace installations here during the next one year.

Bharat Tank, Deputy General Manager (International Business) of the company, told The Hindu here on Saturday that it had over 30 installations in Coimbatore and most of these were in the foundries.

“It (induction) is a cleaner technology, a technology for tomorrow. Hence, customers will switch over to it,” he said.

Electrotherm, which makes induction melting furnace and induction heating and hardening equipment, supplies these machinery to mini steel plants, foundries and the automobile component manufacturers.

It had over 3,000 induction melting furnace installations in the country and of them 1,200 were in the foundry sector.

Every year, the company was having about 100 installations in the foundries and 70 per cent of these were for small and medium-scale enterprises.

Add-on gadgets

To help the industries meet the power shortage problem, it was providing add-on gadgets that helped in power conservation, he said.

Electrotherm offered customised engineering, organised educative programmes and was constantly into innovation, he said.

The company had a research and development centre in Coimbatore with 12 engineers. The company was present in all the clusters, he added. It organised a programme for the foundries here on Saturday.
