Kharge, Deve Gowda mourn Gavai

BANGALORE: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge and the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda have mourned the death of Puttaraja Gavai.

Spiritual leader

Mr. Kharge said that Puttaraja Gavai was a spiritual leader who cared for students from poor families.

Mr. Deve Gowda said Gavai rendered yeomen service to the State in his 97 years of meaningful life.

Being the disciple of Ganayogi Sri Panchakshari Gavai and an achiever in spiritual and cultural field, the swamiji served the shelter-less.

Eminent musician

Belgaum Staff Correspondent writes: Minister for Horticulture and Prisons Umesh V. Katti and Prabhakar B. Kore and Ramesh V. Katti, MPs, have mourned the death of Puttaraja Gavai, musician and seer of Gadag-based Veereshwara Punyashrama.

In their messages issued in Belgaum on Saturday, they said in the death of Gavai the country lost an eminent musician, writer, philosopher, saint and a social worker who devoted his life for the cause of visually challenged and destitute children.
