KOLLAM: Infosys CEO and managing director Kris Gopalakrishnan has said that along with school education, spiritual education should also be made an integral part of learning because spiritual knowledge teaches a person how to become a good human being. He was addressing a gathering here on Sunday after inaugurating the Veda Vidya Bhavan of the Kottarakulam Sree Mahaganapathy temple. Mr. Goalakrishnan said places of worship had an important role to play in imparting spiritual education, adding that spirituality should be promoted by all means. “There is significant respect for the Information Technology industry of India all over the world. The growth of the sector in the country provided an opportunity for several thousands in the country to earn good jobs. They could achieve this only through education,” he said. Briefing his middle-class backdrop, Mr. Gopalakrishnan said right education had helped members of middle class and lower middle class families come up in life. He said his message was that by hard work and vision anyone could create a world-class organisation. Earlier, while dedicating the Vidya Bhavan building for being inaugurated, temple administrative committee president K. Ramachandran said that for the survival of the Hindu dharma, there had to be people to study the subjects concerned and carry it forward to the next generation. Only then would the posterity understand the values of the Hindu dharma, he added. Honoured At the function, 45 students from Palakkad-based Sankaracharya Veda Padasala were honoured. Resident of the Kollam Brahmana Samajam S. Narayanan presided over the function. General secretary S. Subramanyan welcomed the gathering. Congress leader C.V. Padmarajan, managing editor of the Keralashabdam B.A. Rajakrishnan and general secretary of the Kerala Brahmana Sabha Anantha Subramanyan spoke.
