CHENNAI: A 12-year-old boy was feared drowned in the sea at the Marina Beach here on Sunday. According to police sources, Kamesh of Thanakodiammal Street in Kodambakkam, studying in class VII in a private school, went to the beach with his friend Karthik (12). While swimming near the Light House, Kamesh went missing after a rough tide. Karthik alerted the local police who have launched a search for the boy with the help of some fishermen in the area. Autorickshaw drivers commit suicide Two autorickshaw drivers allegedly committed suicide in different incidents on Sunday. Rafi alias Rafiq (45) of Lloyds Road was found hanging with a piece of cloth in his autorickshaw. Police said family problems forced the victim to take the extreme step. The body was shifted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. In another case, Tirumalai (40) of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in Kolathur was found hanging from the ceiling of his house. The Rajamangalam police said Tirumalai had a heated argument with his wife hours before committing suicide. Chain snatched A woman allegedly snatched a gold chain from a senior citizen in K.K. Nagar here on Sunday. Police said Subbulakshmi (69) was at home with her relative Kalavathi (79) when someone knocked the door. When she opened the door, a woman barged in and snatched her chain and escaped.
