Meet held on SHGs

Staff Reporter

KAKINADA: Members of women self-help groups (SHGs) in East Godavari district deposited a sum of Rs. 125 crores with various banks, which will be circulated among the groups by the banks concerned.

Announcing this at a review meeting with bankers here on Tuesday, district Collector M. Ravi Chandra said that members of the SHGs would be encouraged to take up projects that would generate money. The groups would be activated further by allocating funds through the banks, he said.

Jaggampet MLA Tota Narasimham and Pithapuram MLA Vanga Geetha brought the issues of non-availability of loans to the farmers to the notice of the Collector.

Responding to the complaints, Mr. Ravi Chandra asked Lead Bank Manager Jagannadha Raju to look into the issues.

Additional Joint Collector B. Rama Rao, Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency K. Madhukar Babu and other officials were present.
