‘No personal differences with KCR'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal has said that while he differed politically with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao over the issue of the State's bifurcation, he had no personal differences with him.

He was responding to a barrage of questions from the media here on Tuesday seeking his response to KCR's positive remarks about him in a television interview recently.

Asked about the reasons for the new-found respect between them, Mr. Rajagopal said, “In the first place, there was no enmity”.

“In a political system, differences do exist but the effort should always be to reach a common understanding,” he said.

Matrimonial alliances between people of Andhra and Telangana were quite common. If there was any anxiety and tension in certain quarters, it was primarily due to some media reports and statements of certain individuals, he added.

In a lighter vein, he said Lord Krishna might not have succeeded in bringing peace between the two groups, but Justice Srikrishna would certainly give the right solution to satisfy people of all regions. Asked about Osmania University JAC's comment that non-Telangana people should take visas, Mr. Rajagopal said, “OU students are also like our children. One should not take remarks made with emotion seriously."
