Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam will inaugurate the fair on September 30 at 9.30 a.m. COIMBATORE: A Southern Regional Agricultural Fair 2010 will be jointly organised by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and CODISSIA as part of the Agri Intex at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex from September 30 to October 3. According to a release from the university, the theme for the fair will be “Market-led Agriculture for Globalisation.” It will serve as a platform for showcasing technologies for efficient marketing of the farm produce. More than 200 stalls are expected to be set up by State Agricultural Universities, Central and State Research Institutions, public and private sector undertakings, financial institutions, self-help groups, and rural entrepreneurs. Farm implements like rice and sugarcane harvesters will also be on display. Cultural events will also form part of the fair. As many as 20,000 farmers are expected to attend from the Southern states and Union Territories. Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam will inaugurate the fair on September 30 at 9.30 a.m.
