A student gives a shape to his creative idea at a painting competition organised by Manipal Superspeciality Hospital near Vijayawada on Tuesday. VIJAYAWADA: A good number of children joined the cause of creation of awareness about heart diseases by participating in a painting competition organised by Manipal Hospitals on the theme “I work with my heart” on Tuesday. As many as 105 children, drawn from classes 5 to 10, gave a form to their creative ideas in the competition. The unique feature of the competition was that the students were asked to come along with parents or grand parents above the age of 45 years. “We will offer free ECG and cardiology consultation to all accompanying parents and grand parents. We feel that this competition will bring awareness right from the children to the elders about the care to be taken for a healthy heart,” the hospital officials said. They explained that the painting competition was one of the many initiatives lined up as part of the World Heart Day on September 26. The hospital on the occasion launched heart check package for Rs.777 to make the diagnosis affordable to all sections of society. Sunil Deshpande, vice-president, K. Sudhakar, unit head, and C.L.N.
