Schools point out loopholes in RTE

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Associated Managements of English Medium Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka has come out with its suggestions and objections to the proposed Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules (Karnataka).

In a release, the association has pointed out that there is confusion in the draft rules as to whether free education in unaided schools is up to 14 years or eighth standard. If age is taken into consideration, the student will be in the middle of ninth standard.

It has also been suggested that schools must be allowed to fix fee structures by themselves and fill up seats in case all the seats in the 25 per cent quota are not filled up.
