MYSORE: A citizens' group in Mysore has decided to observe Communal Harmony Day on September 24, when the verdict in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit is slated to be delivered by the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. This was decided after a series of peace meetings held in the city over the last couple of days. The meetings were attended by the Commissioner of Police Sunil Agarwal, religious leaders, intellectuals, elected representatives and residents, who were unanimous in their view that peace should be maintained. Prohibitory orders Meanwhile, Mr. Agarwal said the police were taking precautionary measures and maintaining vigil in sensitive areas in the city to ensure that there was no law and order problem following the verdict. Intelligence had been gathered about potential mischief-makers and they were being closely monitored, he said. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr. PC would come into force from Thursday midnight and remain for 24 hours. All bars, restaurants and pubs would remain closed; the sale of liquor was banned during the period, the Commissioner said. All processions were banned. The sale and bursting of crackers was also banned, a release from the Commissioner's office said here on Wednesday. The police has also sought suspension of mobile services and text messages for three hours after the verdict, in a bid to prevent the spread of rumours.
