Six students held for ragging

Coimbatore: The Kande Gounden Chavadi police have arrested six senior students on charges of ragging and assaulting a first year student of a private polytechnic near Veerappanur on Thursday.
It is learnt that the victim, Jaffar Sadiq (19), was asked to strip. When he resisted, he was reportedly assaulted by Praveen, Ajis, Vivek, Jayaraj, Sakthivel and Nizar, all seniors.
The injured student was admitted to a hospital and based on a complaint from him, the police arrested the six students and remanded them to judicial custody.
