BURNING ISSUE:Praja Rajyam leaders VISAKHAPATNAM: Yet another Praja Rajyam victim of the police lathicharge, Mopada Sreenu (35), of Chinnayyapalem, who had sustained a serious head injury, died at a corporate hospital here on Friday. It was only on Thursday that R. Peddi Naidu of Makavarapalem succumbed to the injuries. Both of them were participating in a protest at Makavarapalem demanding a rehabilitation package for the families displaced by the Anrak aluminium factory displaced on September 20. Doctors conducted post mortem on Sreenu at King George Hospital. Bodies of Peddi Naidu and Sreenu were sent to their native villages. Police disrupted an indefinite hunger strike by party leader Ruttala Yerrapatrudu who demanded that the government implement the benefits to the displaced persons. Police claimed that the two were injured when they fell from a police van while being taken away along with other protestors. Earlier, Praja Rajyam staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate. Party general secretary Allu Aravind, politburo member C. Ramachandraiah, MLAs Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, M. Srinivasa Rao and Ch. Venkatramaiah, city president P.V.G.R. Naidu, State general secretary S.A. Rehaman, Vamsikrishna Yadav, Palla Srinivas and Kasiviswanadham participated in the protest. They demanded disciplinary action against RDO, DSP of Narsipatnam and Circle Inspector of Kothakotha, payment of Rs. 10 lakh compensation to the bereaved families, besides government jobs to the kin. The Praja Rajyam said the rehabilitation measures promised to the displaced must be implemented. The CPI and CPI (M) also supported these demands.
