Seven nations – Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, India, Laos and Mongolia -- took part in the championship that concluded on September 22. The Indian compound team consisting of Ch. Lenin (South Central Railway), B. Akhil Chowdary (Sri Chaitanya), Kuldeep Kumar (Indian Army, EMI) and Sunandhu Ray (Volga Archery Academy) won the team bronze, losing to Laos in the semi-final. In the women compound segment, the Indian team comprising V. Jyothi Surekha (Nalanda Vidya Niketan), Y. Anusha Reddy (Viswa Bharathi) and V. Kavya (Sundramma High School) clinched the team bronze along with one more bronze in the team ranking segment. In the mixed doubles event, introduced for the first time in the competition by the World Archery Federation (FITA), V. Jyothi Surekha along with Kuldeep Kumar won a silver losing to Laos in the final. Nalanda Vidya Niketan student Jyothi Surekha also won an individual bronze in the 70-metre category by garnering 655 points out of 720. “Volga archers E. Sahit and M. Mr. Satyanarayana said that the incessant rain during the week-long championship made the lives of the archers difficult.
