No plan to advance Assembly elections, says Karunanidhi
J. Balaji
NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Saturday made it clear that he had no plans to advance Assembly elections in the State.
He wished to go for polls during the normal course and would complete his full term in office, Mr. Karunanidhi told The Hindu over phone from Chennai. The DMK-Congress alliance continued to be strong and would extend for next year's elections. The combine would retain power with a huge majority.
The mammoth response of people from the Thiruvananthapuram airport to Nagercoil when he went there recently to participate in a DMK meeting in Kanyakumari district was yet another proof of the popularity of the ruling party, he said.
