Among pulses, red and green gram are the two major crops that were cultivated on a large scale this time in Raichur district. The coverage of red gram increased by 500 per cent while the area under green gram increased by 191 per cent over the target fixed by the Agriculture Department. Red gram was cultivated on 55,000 hectares as against the target of 11,000 hectares and green gram was cultivated on 9,521 hectares as against the target of 4,975 hectares.
