Dharmana dared to visit Sompeta

Staff Reporter

SRIKAKULAM: Former Minister Tammineni Seetaram and TD leader Duvvada Srinivas on Saturday dared Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao to visit Sompeta as he was supporting the establishment of thermal power projects in the district. They said development should not be encouraged at the cost of people's livelihood.

Addressing a media conference, they said public hearing should be conducted afresh. They alleged that the previous public hearing was managed to get a favourable order for setting up power project.

Paryavarana Parirakshana Sangham leaders Y.Krishna Murthy and Beena Dhelli Rao said they would continue to agitate until the government took back land from the Nagarjuna Construction Company. They objected to comments of local police who had reportedly said Bendalam Krishnamurty had died because of cancer and not lathicharge.

PPS leaders released medical certificates saying he was injured in lathicharge. “The government should pay compensation to Krishnamurty family on par with other two persons who had died in police firing,” they said.
