Foundation laid for administrative building

KURNOOL: Municipal Administration Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy laid the foundation for Rs. 5.5 crore administrative building of the corporation here on Saturday.
Addressing the meeting, he said the corporation was sanctioned Rs. 177 crore in the last five years. Of it, Rs. 117 crore was utilised so far.
Mr. Reddy had a word of praise for the corporation employees for their exemplary work in restoring normality after the unprecedented floods. He said the government released Rs. 50 crore for flood relief works. An amount of Rs. 44 crore was sanctioned for pipelines and improvement of drinking water supply.
10 reservoirs
He said ten reservoirs would be ready by the end of October to enhance water supply in the city at a cost of Rs. 36 crore. He underscored the need for speeding up tax collection in order to pool up resources. T.G. Venkatesh, MLA, said plans were drawn up with an outlay of Rs. 900 crore for the development of the city for the next five years.
According to him, Rs. 20 crore each was sanctioned for check-dam and modernisation of general hospital.
Also, CC roads were being laid along KC canal at a cost of Rs. 25 crore.
