Minister skips court hearing
Staff Correspondent
BELLARY: G. Janardhan Reddy, Minister for Tourism, against whom a non-bailable warrant has been issued by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Sandur, did not appear before the court on Saturday.
This is the 10th time in succession that Mr. Reddy has been skipping attending the court in connection with a case filed against him by Tapal Narayan Reddy, a mine owner, in 2006 accusing him of encroaching upon his mining area by destroying the pillars and issuing a threat.
B.A. Pramod, JMFC Kudligi, who holds additional charge of Sandur court, awaited the order of the Dharwad Circuit Bench of the Karnataka High Court, before proceeding further in the matter and posted the case on December 1. The Circuit Bench had passed an interim order to maintain status quo in a writ petition filed by Tapal Narayan Reddy
against the decision of the cabinet to withdraw the case.
Patel Siddareddy, counsel for Mr. Reddy, said that the court had not reissued the NBW, while Gudekote Nagaraj, counsel for Tapal Narayan Reddy, said that the NBW issued earlier would be in force as the court had not recalled it.
