Mumbai clinches title
KOLKATA: Mumbai downed Calicut to win the all-India inter-university kho kho championship at Midnapore Town on Saturday. Mumbai won by 10 points to nine in the extra-time after both tied nine-all in the regulation period.
Shilpa Jadhav of Mumbai was adjudged the best player of the tournament. In a closely fought final, Shilpa, with an all-round game, made all the difference. Calicut coach was peeved with certain decisions of the match officials and blamed them for his team's loss.
Annamalai won the third position defeating Guru Nanak Dev by nine points to three.
Earlier, Calicut stopped Annamalai by 11 points to 10 in the semifinals while Mumbai defeated Guru Nanak Dev by an innings and six points. — Special Correspondent
