Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Director-General of Police K. Aravinda Rao has said Andhra Pradesh Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy will make an announcement in two to three days, providing details of withdrawal of the cases filed against students and others who participated in agitations for and against Telangana in different regions of the State.

Talking to journalists after meeting Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad here on Saturday, Mr. Rao, however, made it clear that the cases registered against the students and others for damaging public and private properties and for indulging in violence would not be withdrawn.

Sources said the police filed as many as 3,567 cases involving 790 students, most of them belonging to Telangana region.

Congress MP K. Keshava Rao welcomed the government's decision to withdraw cases and hoped that it would cover all the regions, irrespective of the magnitude of the cases.
