MULUG (WARANGAL): The poor maintenance of tribal welfare residential hostels came in for sharp criticism from the Opposition parties at the governing body meeting of the ITDA, Eturunagaram. TDP MLAs Errabelli Dayakar Rao, R. Prakash Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, Danasari Anasuya and others lamented the poor state of affairs prevailing at the hostels in agency areas. They said the children were exposed to all kinds of dangers as many hostels lacked basic amenities and even compound walls. Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and others sought an explanation from the ITDA officials. Intervening in the issue, district collector N Sridhar promised to order an inquiry into the issue. Ruling party MLA G. V. Ramana Reddy, MLC P. Padmavathi, MPs S. Rajaiah and P. Balaram Naik and others alleged that officials were drawing double bills for the engineering and minor irrigation works done while most of the important works were progressing at a slow pace. As the time was running out, the Minister promised that another meeting would be held next month to take up the left out items on the agenda.
