BANGALORE: Bangalore Region, the host, with 194 points emerged overall champion in the 41st KVS All- India Sports Meet for boys here on a day when heavy showers rendered the closing ceremony a damp squib. Chandigarh last year's third place finisher amongst boys and overall fourth, finished runner-up with 130 points. Two events- badminton and hockey were shared by two regions. While Mumbai and Silchar shared the badminton honours, Bangalore and Chandigarh were declared joint winners in hockey. Chennai Region which achieved top place in volleyball and kabaddi also walked away with the ‘March past' trophy. Shri Avinash Dikshit, Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), New Delhi, the Chief guest for the evening gave away the trophies. Over 4400 boys from 18 regions participated in the five day meet. The boys and girls meet was separated from this year. The results: Handball: Final: Chandigarh bt Bangalore 23-11. Semi finals: Bangalore bt Hyderabad 17-16; Chandigarh bt Dehradun 12-9. Hockey: Final: Chandigarh drew Bangalore 2-2 (Joint winners). Shooting: (At Belgaum): Peep Sight Air Rifle: Above 15: Neet Singh (Delhi) 238 pts; Under 15: Narendra Gill (Delhi) 212 pts. Open Sight Air Rifle: Above 15: Bikramjeet Singh (Luc) 306 pts; Under 15: Abhijay (Chennai) 118 pts. Air Pistol: Above: 15: Rahul Choudhary (Bhopal) 333 pts. Kho kho: 1. Ahmedabad, 2. Silchar, 3. Chandigarh .
