Kozhikode: The district committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has alleged that the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP), an outfit formed by dissidents of the CPI(M) at Onchiyam, is having an unholy alliance with the United Democratic Front (UDF) to mislead the voters in the panchayat elections disguising as Marxist revolutionaries. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, CPI(M) district secretary T.P. Ramakrishnan alleged that the RMP had forged a pact with the UDF in four panchayats in the region. Its leaders were misleading the voters by propagating the false notion that their supporters were those who spearheaded the revolutionary movements in the area during the Emergency period. He claimed that the voters in Onchiyam would identify such gambit to weaken the party hold in the area. Several supporters of the RMP had already returned to the party, he said. JD(S) issue The RMP leaders were those who went out of the party in protest against the extension of the tenure of the Eramala grama panchayat president who belonged to the Janata Dal (Secular). The same activists were now supporting the UDF which housed a faction of the party, he said. CPI(M) district secretariat members P. Mohanan and K. Chandran were present at the press conference.
