No dates yet for new lines

NEW DELHI: Uncertainty continues to loom over the opening of the high-speed Airport Express Line in the Capital. The line was inspected by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Security (CMRS) R.K. Kardam over the past three days and till Wednesday evening the clearance was awaited.

The concessionaire for the line, Reliance Infrastructure, remained tight-lipped, refusing to share details about when the line will be opened. A spokesperson of the company said: “Decision on the launch would be taken after receiving all necessary approvals and would be informed shortly.”

The CMRS began its inspection of the line on Monday and extended it to Wednesday.

Meanwhile, DMRC officials said the CMRS is likely to inspect the Central Secretariat-Sarita Vihar corridor on Thursday and Friday. “If we get the clearance, we are ready to open the line on October 2,” said an official.
