Rice shop burgled

CHENNAI: Burglars allegedly broke into a rice shop in Thiruvanmiyur and decamped with Rs.25,000 cash on Wednesday. According to police sources, Periasamy (65), who owns the shop on Valmiki Street, in Thiruvanmiyur, lodged a complaint that the door was forced open and money kept in the safe missing.

The Thiruvanmiyur police are investigating.

In another case, Rajkumar (45), a metal shop owner in Flower Bazaar, has lodged a complaint that Rs.58,000 kept in an almirah of his shop was stolen. The suspects had broken the lock of the main door to commit the offence.
