Foundation stone for the club was laid in 1945 by Lady Hope, wife of the then Collector James Hope. The club, which has been in a dilapidated condition for quite some years, was renovated at a cost of Rs.5 lakhs in April 2010. The Collector's wife B. Jayamma is the present chairperson, Jandhyala Balavaralakshmi is the secretary, Project Director of ICDS M.J. Nirmala is the treasurer and Krishna Kumari is the joint secretary. The fitness centre has a treadmill powered by 3 HP motor and other equipment. Pledging his support for the development of the club, the Collector announced that the club would soon have a children playpen, shuttle court and a walking track. He also asked the committee to enrol more members and undertake philanthropic activities.
