Indian boys lose

NEW DELHI: The Indian boys went down fighting to Britain in the last league match of the Junior Davis under-16 World Group tennis competition in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Despite having started with a victory over the fifth-seeded Czech Republic, India finished fourth in the group, and was reduced to fighting for the minor placings from 13 to 15. India is set to meet Russia in the first play-off match.

The results: Britain beat India 3-0 (Kyle Edmund bt Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-2, 7-5; Luke Bambridge bt Ronit Bisht 2-6, 6-3, 8-6; Evan Hoyt and Kyle Edmund bt Ramkumar Ramanathan and Arjun Kade 7-6(7), 5-7, 6-3 . — Special Correspondent
