VIZIANAGARAM: Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah laid emphasis on encouraging youth and voluntary organisations to donate blood.
Speaking at the blood donation camp organised by BSNL on the occasion of its Formation Day celebrations and National Blood Donation Day on Friday, Mr. Veerabrahmaiah said that last the blood procurement was only 9,200 units against the target of 12,000. Students of many professional colleges and voluntary organisations in the district must be enlightened on the need for blood donation.
General Manager of Telecom District K. Neelayya, while stating that the camp was being conducted as part of BSNL Formation Day celebrations, explained the various schemes the department had launched for the benefit of customers. District Leprosy Officer S. Chandra Reddy was present.
Later, at a press conference he said that the BSNL launched road shows beginning with Vizianagaram. They would be conducted in Parvathipuram on Monday, Gajapathinagaram and Balijipeta on Tuesday, Salur, GArividi, S. Kota and Kothavalasa on Wednesday and Kurupam on Thursday. At the road shows, the customers can avail free SIM (Rs.20) and freerechargecoupon (FRC) (Rs. 29) if the customer registered landline/broad band connection. He said that with effect from September 22 BSNL had been offering 45 per cent reduction on unlimited 3G data plan. At present there are 2000 3G services in the district.
