CHENNAI: Noted film music director Chandrabose, who composed music for 300 movies in south Indian languages, died here on Thursday following multiple-organ failure. He was 60.
A music director known for his adaptability, Mr. Chandrabose was one of the top-slot composers in 1980s. He composed a good number of songs for AVM productions, especially for Rajinikanth movies.
His compositions such as ‘Superstar Yaarunu Keta' from Raja Chinna Roja, ‘Kaalai Kaalai' from Manidhan and ‘Dilliku Rajanalum' from ‘Paati Solla Thataadhe' have earned him a special place in the Tamil film industry.
Having made his debut in ‘Madura Geetham' by V.C. Guhanathan, he worked his way up to become a ‘director's composer,' as his songs are known for adding pace to the storyline.
The last movie he composed was ‘Naan Petha Magane' by V. Sekhar. His compositions in films such as ‘Pudhiya Paadhai,' ‘Annanagar Mudhal Theru' and ‘Maanagara Kaaval' were chartbusters for a long time. “He had not composed music for 10 years as he began acting in tele-serials. Mr. Chandrabose is survived by his wife and three children.
