KOCHI: Led by actor Dileep, around 300 volunteers from various organisations donated blood on National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on Friday. At a function organised by the Indian Medical Association, State branch, at Aluva, Dileep was made the brand ambassador for blood donation. Brand ambassador The State president of IMA, Sreekumar Vasudevan, declared the actor as their brand ambassador. The activists of Dileep Fans' Association played a lead role in donating blood on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dileep said blood donation is the duty of every person and not a generosity towards those who need blood due to an accident or any disease. “We should all be part of this effort,” he said. “I have taken up the role of the brand ambassador precisely for this.” Children's rally Before the blood donation camp started, over 400 children from various schools participated in a rally. Former national president of IMA, P. C. Velayudhan Pillai; former State president, V. U. Seethi; State general secretary, J. Rajagopalan Nair; senior vice-president, A. V. Babu; joint secretary, K. A. Sreevilasan; and State president-elect G. Vijaykumar participated. IMA-Central Kerala branch president, G. Babu, welcomed the gathering, Blood Bank Committee convenor N. Vijaykumar proposed a vote of thanks.
