CHENNAI: A website that seeks to provide comprehensive information about the city and empower its citizens by serving as an interactive forum will be launched on October 4. Being developed as part of ‘Transparent Chennai,' an initiative of the Centre for Development Finance (CDF), a research centre affiliated to the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), the website – www.transparentchennai.com – seeks to map various aspects of the city's physical and service infrastructures.
For instance, a browser who wishes to have updates on a flyover project has to just run his or her mouse over the area on the map of the locality. The site also aims at improving accountability, said Nithya V. Raman, Acting Project Director, Transparent Chennai. “We have mapped several aspects,” she said.
