Akshit, Keerthi triumph

VIJAYAWADA: J. Akshit and Keerthi won the Krishna District Chess Association u-7 selection tournament by garnering five and one-and-half points respectively here on Saturday.

N. Srinath Chowdary and Deekshitha finished second with four and one points respectively.

These four players will represent Krishna District in the forthcoming State meet.

South Zone wins

South Zone defeated Central Zone by 29 runs to lift the ACA u-19 trophy at Guntur on Saturday.

The scores: South Zone 176 for seven in 41 overs (S. Monica Sai 46, P. Vineela three for 24) bt Central Zone 147 for six in 41 overs (S. Meghana 58) .

Washed out

The final day's play between Guntur and Prakasam at Mangalagiri and West Godavari and Krishna at IGMC stadium in the ACA Central Zone u-16 inter-district tournament was washed out due to rain.

Postponed

The selections trials for the Krishna District Cricket Association u-14 team could not be held here on Saturday due to rain.

The trials will be held on October 9 at IGMC Stadium at 1 p.m. and those registered on October 2 will be considered for the trials.

Carrom camp

The 13-day coaching camp for the 16-member Andhra sub-junior carrom team commenced at LVR & Sons Club at Guntur on Saturday.

The camp was inaugurated by District Sports Development Officer P. Ramakrishna.

The team will take part in the 38th sub-junior Nationals to be held at Akola (Maharasthra) from October 18 to 23.
