Bokaro: The Commonwealth Games, which kicks off on Sunday, has already started getting 200 MW of power supply. Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Power, and Chairman Damodar Valley Corporation Devendra Singh said: “200 MW power has been provided for the CWG”. Stating that the DVC had achieved production of 2,500 MW power since its setting up, he said the public sector has set a target to take it to 10,000 MW at the end of the 12th Five Year Plan. The Steel Authority of India and the DVC would go for a joint venture to set up a 500 MW power plant in Bokaro and an agreement to this effect would be done soon, he added. A direction for closure of three units at DVC's Chandrapura power plant has been given as there was no power production in those units, he said. PTI
