Samathuvapuram contract cancelled

NAGAPATTINAM: The District Collector has cancelled the contract for Samathuvapuram works at Satiyakudi at Keezhvelur here in Nagapattinam on Sunday.

On an inspection of the works at the site, Collector C.Munianathan had cancelled the contracted work due to delay in the completion of the project.

The project at an estimated cost of Rs.2.14 crore and spread over an area of 8.2 acres is slated to host 100 dwelling units each at a cost of Rs.2.14 lakh.

The project also envisages an overhead water tank with a capacity of 30,000 litres at a cost of Rs.6.14 lakh.

The project also envisages other ancillary infrastructure such as a tar road at a cost of Rs.20.70 lakh, 18 minor bridges at a cost of Rs.6.20 lakhs, street lighting fixtures to the tune of Rs.2.48 lakh, a community part at Rs.1.5 lakh, a gateway arch at Rs.1.82 lakh, and a gateway bridge at Rs.4.43 lakh.As of date, over 80 per cent of works were scheduled for completion.

However, with completion of just about 63 per cent of works, the contracted agreement has been revoked. The Samathuvapuram at Satiyakudi would be the sixth such project in the district.
