Talk by Sir Mark

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Bangalore Initiative for Religious Dialogue, an organisation of theologically and socially interested people, is hosting the ninth Rev. Dr. Stanley Samartha Memorial Lecturer on October 7 at 4.30 p.m. at the Rotary House of Friendship on Lavelle Road.

Under the programme, Sir Mark Tully, formerly of the BBC, will deliver a lecture on “How certain should we be, the problems of religious pluralism”. The initiative is hosting annual lecture series named after its inspiration, the late Dr. Stanley Samartha, an ordained priest of the Church of South India and a theology teacher from Karnataka.

Dr. Samartha, known as the “Christian prophet of religious pluralism”, had famously declared himself as “a Hindu by culture, Christian by faith, Indian by citizenship and ecumenical by choice”.
