Dokka backs lawyers' demand

Staff Reporter

Guntur: Secondary Education Minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasada Rao expressed solidarity with the advocates' agitation for establishment of a High Court Bench between Guntur and Vijayawada. He had a brief interaction with the advocates who are on a hunger strike at the entrance of District Court Complex here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Mr. Vara Prasada Rao concurred on the issue of setting up HC Bench between Guntur and Vijayawada as the Government had promised in 1956. He complimented the advocates for taking up the cause of litigant public, who would be biggest beneficiaries of the proposed Bench.

Advocates abstained from duties on Tuesday in response to a call given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC).
