Heart surgeon performs rare surgery

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Heart surgeon from city Prateek Bhatnagar performed a rare and high risk surgery on a 45-year-old woman at Nagpur following an emergency call last week and provided a fresh lease of life to her.

The woman suddenly developed severe difficulty in breathing. It was found that she was suffering from right pulmonary thrombo-embolism, a condition in which a large blood clot gets lodged in the pulmonary artery and might prove fatal within minutes.

Dr. Bhatnagar, MD, Beating Heart Clinic, flew to Nagpur and performed the surgery and removed the entire blood clot lodged in the right pulmonary artery and its branches as also another one in the right side of the heart. The patient had a dramatic recovery and was able to walk within 48 hours. She was discharged on Tuesday.
