11 arrested in Tirupur

Tirupur: The district police claimed to have solved four cases of robbery and a burglary that took place at various places this year with the arrest of 11 persons here on Friday. A total of 24.5 sovereign jewellery, 67 cell phones, Rs 2.1 lakh and a two-wheeler were recovered from the accused. Superintendent of Police A Arun told reporters that of the accused, S. Anbu, R. Thangapandian, L. Thangapandian and V. Jayasuriya were arrested for forcefully taking away Rs. 4.5 lakh from the staff of a milk dairy at Chettipalayam.
The accused came in a motorcycle and sprinkled chilly powder on to the face of the diary staff before taking away the cash.
He said that K. Jagan was taken into the custody for stealing 67 cell phones from an outlet at Kangeyam after gaining entry into it by piercing the roof. “Few accomplices of him are at large,” he added. The remaining accused P.Thangaraj, T. Karthikeyan, R. Sivalingam, M. Nallasamy, P. Karthi and T. Suresh were arrested in connection with three robberies that took place at places under Vellakoil Police Station limits. Two persons, including a native of Mysore, who were part of these three cases, managed to give a slip to the police.
