Traffic diverted again on Ooty-Coonoor road

The stretch will remain closed for at least 15 days
Udhagamandalam: A part of Ooty-Coonoor National Highway at Chinna Bickatty, which was damaged recently in the heavy rain, has suffered further damages.
As a result, traffic which was restored on the stretch a couple of days ago has once again been diverted.
The Khadi Board Minister, K. Ramachandran, told The Hindu that senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will be asked to look into it.
Maintenance
If necessary the NHAI would be asked to hand over the road to the state highways for maintenance. The stretch would remain closed for at least 15 days.
The Superintendent of Police, S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, said in a release here that with effect from Friday vehicles heading towards Mettupalayam and beyond from here would be diverted via Kotagiri.
Heavy vehicles coming towards Udhagamandalam from Coonoor would be diverted via Sim's Park,Kattabettu and Dodabetta.
Light vehicles would be diverted via Boys Company,Old Aruvankadu and Yellanhalli.
Two-wheelers heading towards Coonoor from Udhagamandalam would be allowed to use the Old Aruvankadu road.
All the other vehicles would be diverted via Kotagiri.
On the Ooty-Coonoor road government buses would be allowed only up to Periya Bikkatty and Gramya Bhavan.
