KOCHI: Harrisons Malayalam Ltd. has registered a record turnover of Rs.335 crore in 2009-10. Efforts are under way to improve production, a press release from the company says. The company is continuing its pursuit to rejuvenate and revitalise operations by replanting in tea and rubber plantations. Nearly 35 lakh tea plants have been planted during the year as part of the rejuvenation initiative. Replanting has been undertaken on around 700 hectares. The company has invested in facilities for improving the quality of products and to make the factories more environment-friendly. Good returns are expected from pineapple, pepper, cardamom and cocoa crops. The company's engineering projects division has bagged projects such as the construction of the new Thampanoor bus terminal at Thiruvananthapuram. The clearing and shipping business and plant tissue culture segment are on a path of growth. New levies and increased taxes have affected the company's profitability.
