Housing work inspected

Tuticorin: Amid hectic works on construction of housing facilities under Kalaignar Housing Scheme, which has been launched by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, in various parts of the district, Social Welfare Minister P. Geetha Jeevan along with Collector C.N. Maheswaran and officials inspected the work here on Friday.
To enhance the living conditions of people, Mr. Karunanidhi had planned this scheme to convert the huts into concrete houses, the Minister said while briefing the media.
As many as 3,021 concrete houses under the Kalaignar Scheme and 3,532 houses under Indira Awaz Yojana would be constructed in the district.
The officials concerned had already indentified the huts in various blocks of the district.
The team inspected the works being taken up structural engineers at Anthoniyarpuram and Soosaipandiapuram villages.
