PUDUKOTTAI: Speakers at a function gave a standing ovation to mark the release of a book on Sri Santhananda Swamigal that records his services for the spiritual uplift of human race and his strong will to explain to the masses the importance of yoga and meditation for realising mental solace and for fostering unity and brotherhood.

Sri Omkarananda Swamigal, pontiff of the Sri Bhuvaneswari Avadutha Vidhya Peetam, who released the book, said that Sri Santhananda Swamigal's teachings were still relevant . He traced the circumstances which led to the establishment of the Sri Bhuvaneswari Avadutha Vidhya Peetam in Pudukottai through Sri Santhananda Swamigal's pious deeds.

K. Venkatarama Sastrigal, who authored the book, said that Sri Santhanada Swamigal led a simple life with a strong determination for guiding the human race. The book, he said, brought out the details of Sri Santhanada Swamigal's ordeal practice under Sri Swamprakasa Swamigal in Sendamangalam near Namakkal from 1942 to 1948. Mr. Venkatarama Sastrigal also highlighted Sri Santhananda Swamigal's hard efforts for offering worship by organising ‘yagams' in glory of Sri Bhuvaneswari. Sri Swamigal was also instrumental for guiding people for establishing Sri Bhuvaneswari temples at Adampakkam, K.K. Nagar in Chennai besides the ‘Skanthashramam' in Tambaram. Even as a youth, Srri Santhananda Swamigal had participated in the freedom movement.

The first copy of the book was received by Rama Subramania Raja, Chairman, Ramco Cements.
