Man killed in bike-jeep collision

VANIYAMBADI: A man was killed when a two-wheeler that he was riding collided head-on with a railway police jeep at Vaniyambadi on Sunday evening.

According to police, Ravikumar (29), a resident of Alangayam, was travelling from Tirupattur to Vaniyambadi on his motorbike. The bike collided with a police jeep attached to the Jolarpet railway police at Thaaliaruthaanmedu near Vaniyambadi. The jeep was plying in the opposite direction, going from Vaniyambadi to Jolarpet. Ravikumar died on the spot.

Railway police inspector Ilangovan, who was travelling in the jeep, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at Tirupattur Government Hospital. The Vaniyambadi police are conducting an inquiry to ascertain who was driving the jeep, police said.
