Protest against inadequate Krishna water release

ONGOLE: Over 100 farmers under the banner of the CPI(M)-led Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham took out a protest march in the town on Monday in protest against inadequate release of Krishna waters under the Nagarjunasagar project command areas in Prakasam District.

The farmers led by APRS District Secretary N. Ranga Rao submitted a memorandum to Collector Kantilal Dande complaining that transplantation of paddy seedlings, was hit, particularly in the tail-end areas.

The APRS leader lamented that only about 600 cusecs of water was being realised in the Nagarjunsagar Adanki branch canal as against the normal release of 1800 cusecs and about 2000 cusecs was being realised in the Darsi Branch Canal as against normal release of 3900 cusecs.
