KOLKATA: Three archers from Tata Steel were felicitated for bringing laurels to the country at the recently concluded XIX Commonwealth Games at New Delhi. Women's individual recurve champion Deepika Kumari, who hails from a poor family in Ranchi, won two gold medals which fetched her Rs. 10 lakh. Rahul Banerjee, who won the men's individual recurve gold medal and the team bronze, was richer by Rs. 6 lakh while Jayanta Talukdar was given Rs. 2 lakh for the two bronze medals he won. The company also felicitated two coaches, Dharmendra Tiwary and Purnima Mahato, for shaping up the archers' future. Both were given Rs. 1 lakh each at Jamshedpur on Monday. — Special Correspondent
