Head constable shoots himself

NEW DELHI: A Meghalaya Armed Police head constable allegedly shot himself with his service gun at the 6, Ashoka Road official residence of Union Minister for Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal over the weekend. P.M. Sangma (42), under whom four constables were posted at the bungalow, allegedly shot himself in the head around 1 a.m. Preliminary investigations suggested that two bullets pierced his head and died on the spot.

“Though no note has been found, it appears to be a case of suicide. We have informed his family members.” said a police officer.

Probably depressed

The police suspect that the head constable took the extreme step as he was depressed over some family problem. He had married twice. --PTI
